Haha! Who knows, maybe it will catch one. After all, sluts are everywhere, but gamer chicks are few and far between.

I completely share Gabe's sentiment there.

If there is one thing you learn in life, it's to NEVER say "no one is that [stupid/pathetic/etc.]". And that goes double for 13 to 30-year-old males.

..and since that's the vast majority of these forums - DON'T DO THIS, GUYS!

Okay, joking and incredulity aside, I wanted to give a real opinion on this. In a very nebulous sense, I can kind of understand it. Gamers don't have the stigma they do for no reason. Even if it's no longer average, let's say, there's still a large enough portion of stereotypical gamers to make this feasible. Let's say you're a typical introverted breeder, lost in your world of videogames, wishing you could talk to girls. But you don't know any girls that share your passion for games, or you can't talk to them even if you do. Let's say you pay $15 a month for a World of Warcraft subscription. That's just for the privilege of playing a videogame. So how much more would you pay to add a(n arguably attractive) female to that game? One specifically there to play that game with you.

Okay, so it sounds a bit like virtual prostitution. And while those of us without a social disorder might find that a little creepy, it doesn't mean there's anything inherently wrong with it. Hell, there's not even a logical reason for prostitution being illegal in the first place, and this is far more tame. It's more like a dating site, and those seem to quickly be losing their old stigma. I hear about more and more people I know actually using them, and again, to a certain extent, I can understand it. We are the internet generation. We connect with so many people in more and more ways over the internet, why not this way?

But therein lies my real problem with GameCrush - it doesn't have that. This is more like paying the captain of the football team to wave to you in the halls. You're not making any real meaningful connection, because you're paying someone by the minute to hang out with you online. They have a financial interest in spending time with you. If this was something that you paid to have an account, and it just connected you to people, I would say that it at least had some merit. But this is pure exploitation at every level.

Now, one final point. You can always say "well, whatever makes people happy", right? After all, why should people only connect at a level that I deem worthwhile? And my answer is that I don't think this will make people happy. I think in the end, it will be self-destructive for the very people it is trying to exploit help. You think these gamers are going to be happy when their ten-minute session is over, and their little gamer girl's boyfriend comes home to take her out to dinner and/or fu-

Well, you get the idea. This will ultimately leave these players feeling more alone. It won't give them the excitement of actually meeting someone, or going on a date. You have to actually do those things for that.

Don't do this. Don't let anyone you know do it.
(I could be preaching to the choir here, but it needed to be said.)
