I've been moving a few pages off of my main website and into their own subdomains, since they seem like separate pages anyway. One was the Pickin' Sticks directory (http://pickinsticks.moosader.com/), and now I'm working on "OpenArt" (http://openart.moosader.com/), which will basically replace the current Public Domain Art and Music sections on my website.
For the time being it's going to be just me updating it; I'm not really planning on having it be something where other people can register and upload their own PD stuff, but I'm writing it so that I can scale to that in the future. I just don't want to police the content and protect against spam and the security issues that go along with all of that.
I'm hoping it makes it easier to search through the things, and maybe easier for me to maintain as well, and add more art. I'm thinking of having a section on the page where people can "commission" free artwork, but the trade-off is that any artwork I create _for_ them, _for_ free gets thrown in the public domain as well. I think it is a good way to expand the page, and also to provide decent graphics to people who don't have the money to pay for their art.
I have gotten complaints about the purple theme. Is it really that big of a deal? I suck with color-themes. Moosader.com is pink, OpenArt is purple. :P
