I'm Getting a Laptop!

Yeah, I am... ...in about three years.
I have found one at Walmart for $550 that I plan to buy.
It has like, a 40 gb hard drive, and it says it has a powerful 3D graphics engine.
I saw another that I thought about buying for $600. It was a desktop.
It had a 64mb nVidia graphics card.
Since my parents will only get me items that cost in total $100 or lower for Christmas, and $50 or lower for my birthday, and considering that I make about $5 a month doing chores, It's gonna take awhile to get either one.
I plan to buy one only for playing FPSs such as Call of Duty, Battlefield 1942, and the Unreal Tournament games. What is another computer that could play those games with decent visual settings that isn't over $600?
Also, what's the difference between a graphics card and a graphics engine?
