It sure looks like a man. You got enough details to see that it shall represent, but I would like to see some shadows and highlights. It would create some depth.

can you post another version at 4x the size, just so i dont have to manually zoom in on it :)

That's a nice sprite :) having loaded it into Paint.net it appears to be 12x27 pixels. Personally I tend to draw sprites with an even width e.g. (8, 16, 32) and then I double that for the height e.g. (8x16, 16x32, 32x64). Its really up to you what proportions you make the sprites unless there are size limits with software or the engine that you are using. Obviously the larger you make the sprites the more detail you can add but it becomes more difficult to animate and draw details. I hope you find this information helpful :).
