C'mon now, we could use some more man-power with Null...

You have to admit that the thought of a fully moddable 2D platformer for DC sounds really arousing...

Don't hide it JSL -- just give in!!!

I'm not in it for the money.

I'd be making $7.50. If we did agree to team up we'd be splitting that or something per sale.

If you've heard a bunch of good stuff about a certain porn site, you might go check it out eventually. You hear it's the best stuff on the net! Everyone is going there. When you arrive, you hit the enter button. Then guess what? There's a pop-up expecting you to insert a credit card number to subtract 7.50$ from your account. That's such a big turn off, you just exit the site and go someplace else.

There's Null for you. A game like Null would help the site sooo much, if it was free. Otherwise, people will just say, "I'm not paying for a homebrew game! Wares will meet my needs!" and leave.

I'm sure you'll get a bunch of sales and money, BUT the site won't get as populated. All the people who don't buy it won't have much a point to come. If it were free, the poor people could get it, and the people who would have bought it can get it. You wouldn't earn money, but the site would be populated.

If Null was free people could see how l33+ it is and decide to make levels for it. Charge them for the level editor. Then everyone’s happy.

Seriously, I wouldn't sell Null. Just sell the editor. Then, everyone can play the l33+ levels that others made, and not be able to make their own. They see how great the game is, they decide to buy it.

Don't sell Null. Sell the editor.

I'm just making my first games for the DC free so people will know what to expect from a developer like me. Then if I get lucky and someone wants to publish my future games, people would know their money was well spent (if my past games were good.)

Nobody wants to buy a level editor. And plenty of people will pay for an indy game (if it's good). I suggest letting them have a demo, but not the full thing, for free. If they like it, they can then purchase it.

If you're not selling the game, I think I'll just have those midis back. I'm not making songs for free anymore.

I'm sorry, Fred, but this is the end.

After this post, I've been thinking alot:

I've thought long and hard, and I'll be quite frank with you and not bother sparing anybody's feelings.

Your post showed me just why you were doing what you were. It openned my eyes and showed me what a seriously selfish and prickish person you are. It was enough that I was going to pay you anything. Most people would die at the chance to just be involved with the development process. But then I can't believe I was willing to pay you half the profit. I don't care how good your music is; programming a game from scratch is, and always will be harder.

Even with the 50/50, I was cool. But then you posted that shit. I know you said to ignore it, but you've already done the damage. So, if you weren't getting something (a huge portion of the income) out of this project you'd just "take your midis bacK" just like that?

That has to be the most selfish and self-centered thing I've ever heard of. That reminds me of the girl from Willy Wonka in the chocolate factory. We all know what happened to her. Down the garbage shoot. And so shall you.

This post hereby ends any affiliation between you and Null for your outlandish selfishness. I can't believe that you'd just take all your contributions back because you don't get a little bit of money out of it. Most people would be thrilled just to have that opportunity.

The damage has been done and I haven't been able to go a second without thinging of your post. Those few sentences ringing in my head. Take your midis and shove them dude, becuase you aren't getting anything now.

You're right Gyro, I was a moron and I have no idea why I said that. I'm being sincere, I don't feel that way. Thinking back, I wonder if I really did post that or not.

I don't care about the money. In fact, keep it all. But please, please let me write music for Null. You're my friend, and there's no one else I'd rather write for. Sorry, man. :(

Wow Fred, that's... touching.

I don't know what to say. In a billion years I wouldn't of ever thought your response would be like that. I thought long and hard before I posted and I'd played this scenerio over and over again.

I can't believe you are so accepting. I've completely changed my mind. You're a good guy. Anybody else would've cussed me up and down the forums.

The friendship part is actually the part that got me. I'd always considered you a friend. So when you posted like you'd just dump Null if it wasn't to be published I was confused and enraged.

I don't know what to say, Fred. I couldn't of ever seen this coming. I'd do anything to have you back on Null. I'll still pay you. (though we have to consider other stuff, like you and I are going to have to split this with the graphic artists.)

Thank you so much, I'm honored to work on your project. I don't care at all how the money is split, anything's fine with me.
