I've thought of a seriously badass NES controller mod.

The other day I was tempted to open up my NES controller, because I'd always been fairly interested in hardware mods. The thing is so simple and easy, you can't go wrong.
What I'm going to do is go to Home Depot and buy a chunk of wood. I'll carve it out like an NES controller and transfer the guts over.
It'd be so badass to have a wooden NES controller. Man, the thing is so simple too. I recommend you all try as well. Especially because you can find them for like $1.99 at Rhino.

I believe Wutai was about to mod his DC controller into a cardboard box. That would be interesting.
I think I have a practical DC controller mod idea. Swith the d pad and the analog so shooters are better.

Remember JSL, that the idiots at Sega decided to put the D-pad and analog stick on the same side.

Name me one console that has the D-pad and analog sticks on different sides. Don't you dare say PS2 or X-box, because they have multiple analog sticks and the one on the right is for looking.
How in the world would you play Sonic Adventure 2 when the analog stick is on the other side? How could you play Samba De Amigo if the D-pad was over by the buttons?
If you want to be pissed at them for something, be mad at them for not having a second analog stick.
Then again, that's not even a valid reason to be mad. No console at the time had multiple analog sticks. (PSone and N64 sure didn't) That wasn't introduced until the end of the PSone's life and after the DC controller had already been made.

It was stupid of them to only have one analog stick.
Also, for Samba de Amigo, you could have used the analog stick, or better yet, maracas.
I guess I'm just mad because the DC controller is terrible for shooters, which are most of what I play.

well i have to say. i analog. i love the multi-indefinate functions of them. digital.... na. unless you are going for some hard-core rpgs or pokemon. that again. that is why the psp pwns it has a nifty little analog stick. the biggest and most notable problem with the psp though is it's framerate. it seems..... a little lacking.

Still, Wutai has no right to complain as Dreamcast was the first console that enabled users to play first person shooters the way the developers intended.
That'd be with mouse and keyboard. Yes, you can play shooters on DC. When you play them right (with the pimped out peripherals) it's way more fun than any double-analog thing.
Quake III Arena or Unreal Tournament with mouse and keyboard on my DC. Ahhh... so nice...

Still Gyrovorbis takes everything too seriously.
We were just talking about modding controllers. Why the heck did you bring up the DC keyboard?

Umm... try when you bashed the DC controller layout for not being able to play FPS like they should be.
If anything you can start bashing every other NextGen console for not allowing what the DC does.
And don't be hatin' because I'm keeping it too real for you...
