Devvers interested in using MARACAS for homebrew:

Post by Falco Girgis »

I was screwing with the fishing rod and I thought I'd bust out my maracas--crackz0rd.

The maracas are really easy to use and adding such an exotic peripheral to a homebrew would be amazing (I'm sure doing it in Viva La Samba).

Moving the left maraca adjusts the first analog input. The bottom left of the sensor area would be point 0,0 of the first analog stick. Top right is 255,255.

Moving the right maraca--you guessed it--adjusts the second analog stick. It works the exact same way.

A shake of the right maraca is like pushing the A button.

A shake of the left maraca is like pushing the B button.

Pushing the yellow button on the right maraca is like pushing start.

And the big mystery--the left maraca button doesn't register as anything. Perhaps it's something that kos isn't checking? When I use the button on the DC bios screen, it gets input as if I were pressing A, but my program isn't detecting anything. Weird.

Oh well, that isn't even necessary for a maraca-utilizing game anyway, and I'm sure it'll get figured out.

But there it is, the DC maracas ready to be used also. I'll sure be using them. /me drools.

So only one maraca will even register movement? Crazy.

It just sounds like your saying your program can't do anything with it since it can't detect it.

Looks like someone chipped off his nose. :hitit:

What the crap is Ronald wearing? Looks like clothing for obese babies. Note how it's tucked into his socks.

JS Lemming, the maracas detect when you shake them, where you shake them, and each maraca has a button. The button on the left maraca doesn't do anything. Not the whole left maraca, just the button.
