Ok I have lost tons of respect for my step-father today. Here is what happened. We where a shoney's tearing up the sea-food buffet, when I mentioned that the rest of my family should get a shirt. After explaining what and why and that it is for a good cause, my step-father replied "why? As long as you or I don't go around 'packin fudge' what do we have to worry about?"

After this reply I felt like stabbing him many-a-time with my fork. 'First', I explained 'aids is not a gay personâ€™s disease. It affects every one. You can worry about saddam's weapons of mass destruction and they may not even exist. But aids does. It is just as impartial as a nuclear bomb is. It doesn't care if you are black, white, gay, fat or anything. It will kill you all the same."

After a long pause he said, "I will never have to worry about it." "OMG", I replied" you are retarded. Just because the only way you could get aids is if you cheated and slept around or shared needles, doesn't mean it doesn't affect you or the rest of the world. Africa is dying, thousands in the states die every year, and you say don't worry? When you die and your generation ceases to exist who do you think will inherit the world? Us, Americaâ€™s youth. I think I will never meet another more self-centered, apathetic person in my life. All he would have to do is sign up for seven days, and order the shirt. I mean you donâ€™t HAVE to wear it. But no. He doesn't care.

Not empathetic. Empathetic is sharing of feelings, he would feel as you do. You mean apathetic, uncaring. I agree with you though. But, that's why there's people like us.
