The Official Golvellius Thread
I wanted to create a single thread where I could post random shit about my game...news, updates, or frustrations surrounding the game in-between YouTube videos. So, for my first bit of news...
I'd like to announce the game's official title. It's no longer, "Golvellius 3D", it's...
[drum roll]
Golvellius: Scarlet Fountain
...and my wife said that sounds like a euphemism for a chick's period. shit.

I think it's still a strong name, haha. I eagerly await the surprises and awesomeness that this thread has to offer.

I'm not sure you should keep the title either :P Change the color or the 'fountain' part :)
I realized the moment I fell into the fissure that the book would not be destroyed as I had planned.

Re: The Official Golvellius Thread
The title is a hint at the basis for the storyline. Basically the water in a small town's beloved fountain suddenly turns blood red, which sends the villagers into a mass panic. ..enter our valiant hero.
so yeah...I'm open to other title suggestions.

Crimson Crisis! Seems sort of corny but maybe it'll give you something to bounce off of.

Sorry. Maybe you should get rid of the subtitle? =) Or maybe, "[Word for Red] Waters" instead of fountain etc.

I still think Scarlet Fountain sounds good. No matter what you call it there's always SOME way to toss it into the gutter.

Re: The Official Golvellius Thread
Yeah, maybe I'll just drop the subtitle for now. Although I would like a way to easily distinguish it from the original...

Re: The Official Golvellius Thread
Could just go with the good ol' decimal system. Golvellius 2 isn't all that bad if you make the intro screen look cool

Re: The Official Golvellius Thread
My new video is posted on YouTube. A while back, someone on YouTube commented that the combat system in the game looked boring. And they were right, it was lame.
So, I did some research, played a ton of hack n' slash games, and decided that Combo are pretty damn cool. Especially the insane combos found in Killer Instinct.
I tried to replicate this experience into a 3D platformer. Did it work? I dunno, we'll see. :P
btw, I only have one combo sequence done, but more can be dropped in easily.

I've tried some gaming projects with buddies, but they always fizzle quickly. I've been working on this for 5 or 6 months - so far so good!

Re: The Official Golvellius Thread
He's his own team.
Also, I'm impressed by the combo system too. From what I've seen, indie games that try for things like that always make the mistake of giving no "feedback" for each blow. You have the star/pow/hit sprite or whatever (reminds me of Donkey Kong Country). It's always that thing that makes all the difference. It makes you feel like you're inflicting damage, and it makes the combo system actually look like combo hits.
Very badass. You're like savagely murdering those snakes now. Rofl.
