Got my own cubicle.

Random irrelevance that just didn't fit into other forums. Talk about anything.

Got my own cubicle.

Post by Falco Girgis »

So I'm officially a badass at work. For those of you who don't know, I'm a coop computer engineering student for the US army.

TODAY, I MOVED UP IN LIFE. I had been sitting in this large, open area with the systems support/logistics people rather than in the room with the other engineers.

But starting today, that all changed. I now have my own cubicle in a quiet room of several engineers. No more interruptions. As a matter of fact, I tilted my chair back, put my feet on the desk, and laid my head against the wall to test out how easily I am able to sleep in here (you can tell I work for the government). Slept uninterrupted for half an hour at least. It's great. I'm reclining while I listen to Loreena McKennit's "The Mummer's Dance" and drinking coffee out of my giant company mug.

Mmmmm... life is good.

Oh, wow I didn't know you were doing that. Cool beans. Welcome to cube life, shortly after I got my first cube I had to get one of those Cubicles I.T. guys, he keeps me company along with the small Halo Warhog jeep that's on my honking 20inch CRT.

So is this a bit of a promotion then or a new project? I'm sure you can't talk about certain details, which I understand...

Dear god, they actually ported ES to a piece of celery!

I have a cube for my data entry job, but the job itself sucks. And the computers are too locked down to have fun with. (Block almost all websites, doesn't even allow flash drives).
I only work 5-hour days, but they feel like eternities.

Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life, my friend. 8-)

lmao, this is random, but it just reminded me of the "Cube Wars" that go on around here...

It all started when we wrapped everything in my friend's cube with saran wrap, turning it into a giant plane:

Rob's Plane, Chapter 2
Rob's Plane, Chapter 3
Rob's Plane, Chapter 4

And, to get me back, they moved my entire cube into the bathroom - complete with phone and internet connectivity... To this day, that bathroom is still refered to as, "Chris' Office." Here I am getting ready to check my morning emails...

Good times.

Hey Falco you should probably hold off on trying this until you get to know your cube buddies a bit better :P.

I don't think that I'm as good looking as trufun, so I doubt I could pull it off.

edit: Btw, trufun, we have the exact same IP phones on our desks!

lol, I've known my cube mates for a few years, so it took more than my 'purdy face' avoid getting fired. Plus the VP is Technology thought it was hilarious.

And yeah, I see the same IP phones on The Office too. 8-)
