Game-a-thon?
How many of you guys would be up for a game-a-thon?
For those of you less-knowledgeable folks, that's referring to the gathering of a group of people starting and beating the same game in one sitting, usually taking between 6-12 hours (depending on game, obviously).
If you're interested, we could easily get some kind of chat client going, such as mIRC, meet at a scheduled time, and pay our respects to one of many classic titles.
Great athoning games (from personal experience):
Zelda, (nes)
Super Mario 64 (n64)
Resident Evil (1,2,3)
Megaman (1-9, NES)
Donkey Kong Country (1,3)
Super Mario World (snes)
Zelda a link to the Past (gbc)
Megaman Legends
Obviously there's a shitload more, but we'd likely want a game that's easily beatable in 1 sitting (meaning, requires under 10 hours of play). Post any suggestions.
Again, anybody interested?

Well I'd definitely enjoy something like that, but considering I don't any any of those games the only way I could participate would be some sort of emulator. If anything I could hover in the chat channel and spectate.

Re: Game-a-thon?
Yea dude. Why on Earth are "Yes" and "HammSammich" two separate options?!

There's nothing wrong with emulators, and nothing to imply we're limited to the above games.

I prefer a weekend date myself, but hell yeah.
Just putting this out here... Ocarina of Time... cause I keep getting to the ice cavern and I get distracted and never beat the damn game, no matter what I try.

Obviously you haven't tried continuing your game from the ice cavern ? :)
I realized the moment I fell into the fissure that the book would not be destroyed as I had planned.

Actually:MarauderIIC wrote:Obviously you haven't tried continuing your game from the ice cavern ?
First, I was borrowing the game from a friend who wanted it back when I got there.
Then I bought the game, go there, stopped playing and then lost the game.
THEN I played it via emulator during my senior year in high school and I lost the game file when I went to college.
Then, I got it on the gamecube in that 4 zelda game disc and my memory card died.
And finally, the last time I went through it, I got to the Ice Cavern via emulator and deleted the damn files after I ran out of space on my laptop when I was in Texas, far away from home.

Re: Game-a-thon?
You need a flash drive DEDICATED to saving your Ocarina of Time game file... or three.

Re: Game-a-thon?
Hey, the poll results are showing 3 "yes"'s, none of which are me.
That's satisfactory...Granted that those people are actually hardcore enough to
A) Beat given game
B) Atleast stay through the 8 or so hours.
Fat change, but hey, it's worth a try. XDD
This weekend I won't be available. I'll post in ~2 weeks when timing's better for me. XD
In the meantime, feel free to start recommending games/genres.
