Cool! you've been programming since you were 11, just like me! But I started C++ earlier...
Quit procrastinating and make something awesome.

Re: Critique my resume!
Looks great man.
My only suggestion would be to add a Technology Experience section - listing languages/technologies that you've worked with. (C/C++, C#, Lua, OpenGL, Javascript, HTML, etc.)

Should I remove them from my summary if I do that?

Well, "Seven years of experience with C++, familiar with Linux and version control, proficient with Microsoft Visual Studio," might be a bit too high level.MarauderIIC wrote:Should I remove them from my summary if I do that?
I think that's good for the summary, but maybe get more detailed in the Tech Experience section. Something so that the person reading it can get a complete rundown of what you're capable of doing.

I would also like to point out that it's one page - which is great. That and your references page is all you should have.
I've conducted interviews where ppl have like 6 page resumes...thats a bad thing.

Alright. But if I add tech experience (and where do you think it should go), it''ll probably bump it to two pages. I can cut the less relevant professional history, perhaps? Lab tech, domino's, courier work (probably)? Not sure.

Re: Critique my resume!
i havent read it, purly because i havent installed word onto my pc. but you state in your resume that you have been programming since you were 11.Ginto8 wrote:Cool! you've been programming since you were 11, just like me! But I started C++ earlier...
i would leave that out. only state when you started at college level, or perhaps if you took AP computer science in school.
possible employers might think your a weirdo if you specifically put age 11 in you resume.
ps: once again im just going off a reply i read.... so dont kill me if im wrong.

Pretty nice. I like it. Although I'd have to agree with trufun on this one. You should have a section or two that lists your entire (or most) of your repertoire of skills. Naturally, you can just purge the less techie job descriptions, and add more relevant sections. Perhaps, like so:
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Programming Languages: C/C++, Python, Lua, XML, x86 Assembly, Pascal, Perl, JavaScript, Java, HTML, and UML.
Operating Systems: Windows XP/Vista, UNIX, Mac OS X, Linux (Ubuntu, Fedora, YDL).
Software Packages: MS-Visual Studio, GNU Compiler Collection, Xcode, Code::Blocks, Adobe CS4 Flash, , SVN, CVS, Adobe CS4 Photoshop.

Updated the attachment in the original post, but I'm probably going to print here in a minute.

Re: Critique my resume!
I had a suggestion to add all other relevant CS coursework (instead of the highest level stuff), opinions? It'd definitely make it >1 page.
edit: also dan suggests tech experience above education

Re: Critique my resume!
As far as relevant coursework perhaps put it on the second page and sort of reference it from the first page. That way it's available if the reader is interested but not in their way if they don't care so much.MarauderIIC wrote:I had a suggestion to add all other relevant CS coursework (instead of the highest level stuff), opinions? As for the tech experience, I pointed out that that's the first think I would be looking for on a resume, and I like how you bolded it to make it stand out. As long as it's relatively easy to find.

Doh! I can't read your resume at home, I still only have my student edition of Office 2000. :P
Although, if you're sending this out, you might want to consider saving it in a previous version of Word. Not everyone (like my cheapass) can open .docx files.
