Re: Sprite Editors
I hear GraphicsGale thrown about.
I realized the moment I fell into the fissure that the book would not be destroyed as I had planned.

Re: Sprite Editors
Gimp is more photo editing than spriting, though. If the choice was between gimp and paint, I'd use paint for spriting. Or maybe Paint.NET?
But I don't do any spriting, although I have use paint and gimp =). There's a thread around here called "question for elysian shadows graphic designer," I think it's in this forum. See if you can find it, I think they asked the same thing.

Re: Sprite Editors
Personally I prefer the sheer simplicity of MSPaint, but I've heard GraphicsGale is really good for sprites and animation. Paint.NET appears to be a more general image editing application, like the Gimp. It's really all up to personal preference, check 'em all out and see what suits your needs best.

I would say paint.net is good for pixel art, it definately isn't for image editing, that's for sure...dandymcgee wrote:Personally I prefer the sheer simplicity of MSPaint, but I've heard GraphicsGale is really good for sprites and animation. Re: Sprite Editors
Well I just installed GraphicsGale yesterday, and I really don't like it's interface. I think I'll go ahead and try Paint.NET and see how that is.eatcomics wrote: I would say paint.net is good for pixel art, it definately isn't for image editing, that's for sure...

I agree. I installed GraphicsGale last night, and I don't like it's interface either. It's really not what I expected it to be :/ .dandymcgee wrote: Well I just installed GraphicsGale yesterday, and I really don't like it's interface. I think I'll go ahead and try Paint.NET and see how that is.

Re: Sprite Editors
I've Have paint.net and macromedia fireworks. And paint obviously. I use paint for editing bitmaps, (effin fireworks won't let me ungroup BMPs to just pixels) and I use paint.net to do transparency. I could never figure out how to resize the dang canvas in paint.net. Overall, I'd say stick with paint, and go to the View>Zoom>Show Grid. Option. You must be zoomed in to see it

Re: Sprite Editors
It just looks really old.. None of the children windows have a style (they look like windows 98), and they also don't snap to the sides or attach themselves like you can do with the toolbars in paint (or pretty much any other image editing software).PixelP wrote:what is wrong with the interface?

Re: Sprite Editors
I use Graphics Gale and I think it's fine. Nearly all sprite editors can do the same things so it's just a matter of preference.
I'll make your software hardware.
