EDIT: But seriously, Lusikka, that's the completely opposite of what I've found as well. We have a few female programmers at work and they are WAY better at math than I ever was or will be.

well statistics show that naturally males are better at things like math, science, history, etc. and females are statistically better at reading, writing... BUT! personally i believe that female programmers are attractive and awesome!! lol because... its kewllllie... i dont know... lol but anyways!
these statistics are GENERALLY (NOT always, obviously) true...

you've got yourself out there, and that's all that matters!

Gender doesn't (or at least shouldn't, but doesn't as far as I know) determine someone's proficiency in a certain field, hard work and commitment does that, and you have that in buckets lusikka (theres a lot of tangible evidence)

Everyone on this forum, is breaking taboos and stereotypes, we're not a bunch of textbook nerds who spend all day in their rooms,talking about things we might do if we had the skills, but instead sitting on our arses, playing MMO's, then calling ourselves "l337 Hax0rs" because we can change our screensavers.

we're all, in some way, tech heads, who want to get ourselves out there, and gain a better understanding of our people. Gender nor race nor appearance shouldn't come into this argument, only intelligence and perseverance, as these are the two (I believe) prerequisites to becoming a competent programmer!

Shit, I just remembered that he owes me $100, so I guess I HAVE to talk to him again.
(Actually, half the Wii is still mine so he owes me more like $250)
But he's currently working as a dishwasher so he probably won't pay that back any time soon. >_>

Now, I'm defiantly a better programmer than my girlfriend (she doesn't know anything lol) but overall between men and women, it's most likely equal.
