YouTube did it...
Everyone has the gaytarded new YouTube layouts now, ugk.
My main complaint about it is the whole side-bar/grid system. It's like it's too many clicks (and not terribly intuitive) to get a grid layout of all your uploads.
I also don't like everything being embedded in the page. It always seems sluggier than having separate pages. (Settings, for example, will drop down when you hit it instead of going to a new page)

Re: YouTube did it...
Ugh. I wanted a grid of my videos, goddamnit. I guess I have to go find out how to do that now.

Re: YouTube did it...
It also looks like they give you like no options under settings anymore.
YAY I CAN CHANGE MY TITLE AND CHANNEL TAGS!!
Having everything crowded on the bottom looks really bad, too.
*edit* oh, you have to hit "edit" on the main video/nav window
You can change it to grid view here, Falco.
Set "Featured layout" to grid, Featured content set, probably to "My uploaded videos" (I dislike it showing my favorites on the main page >_>)

Re: YouTube did it...
Yeah, I updated my channel to the new format for about a day. I hated it.
My biggest beef with the new format is the Profile section. The profile info is below the fold, which is just annoying... That's like, web design 101. Users shouldn't have to scroll down to find out what your channel is all about.
I really hope that YouTube doesn't force everyone to upgrade to the new format.

Ugghfff, I hate the new layout and pretty disappointed they forced the switch. What's wrong with letting the user decide which one they want?
Re: YouTube did it...
They did. They started on September 30th, but said it would take 10-20 days for everyone to get transitioned over.trufun202 wrote:Yeah, I updated my channel to the new format for about a day. I hated it.

Re: YouTube did it...
Mine is still original...for now. The only real reason I hate the new design is because they force it on us. Well, that and the fact it has compatibility issues with my firefox addons.
Really, we should have options for our channel. I would like the new channels a lot more if they were just an optional switchover. Now it's just the new annoyance.

Yeah, they should store everything in modules, and let us move 'em around. Maybe choose two sizes ("small", "big") for the featured video and all that.JaxDragon wrote:Mine is still original...for now. Or even The Great Games Experiment lets you edit code within reason. Can embed video in a module, or have an image gallery.

Re: YouTube did it...
Ugh, I played around for maybe 15 minutes, and I am absolutely appalled by Youtube's decision.
Everybody hated Facebook's new look at first, but it did offer a better sense of organization and had a more logical interface.
The new look on Youtube is horrible. You can't show playlists, playlist descriptions, and uploaded videos at once. You see less information, the information isn't as organized, and you have to scroll down just to see what the channel is about?
It looks horrible.

Re: YouTube did it...
I hate the new setup it for one thing it always wants to open the videos up on the profile instead of on its own so then if I want to comment I have to click it again. plus I find the whole setup a lot more confusing . I do not know why they are so worried about having all the profiles the same.

Maybe we should all write letters to YouTube/Google complaining. :P

Re: YouTube did it...
Apparently, if you're a YouTube Partner, you can keep the old channel format:

This is no knock against Mark Crilley, he's freakin' awesome, but I find it interesting...
...and no, I'm not over this yet. :P

Re: YouTube did it...
I also hate YouTube's new layout because I tend to open a lot of tabs while surfing, and with YouTube's new layout you can't ctrl- or shift-click any links! I don't surf linearly, let me open multiple videos in new tabs
