Realized How Much of a Nerd I am...

Post by XianForce »

So my family and I were driving up to a beach, and while driving through the mountain I was just enjoying the scenery. The as I see a mixture of far away mountains, and close by mountains, the first thing that comes out of my mouth: "That's some beautiful parallax scrolling". :oops:

Anyone else done/said anything similar?

Hmm parallax scrolling is a new concept to me, so unfortunately... no.

But it sounds like something I can relate too

:lol:

edit: I know what 2d parallax scrolling is.. just never knew it was called that, ...

Yeah after I said it, I was thinking, "Did that really just come out of MY mouth???"

When I'm doing math homework, if I'm writing a decimal, I sometimes tack an f on the end. :oops:

Whenever my teacher tells us to take a note of something hes saying, I'll sometimes write a // before it. At first I did it unknowingly but now I do it purposely so I know to study it.

My teacher makes us take notes in math.

I write == and before I make an algebra variable:
int x;
I'm an altogether bad-natured Cupid.

Yeah, when I take notes in meetings it's usually half english and half pseudo code.

Instead of writing something like, "Disable all inactive records", I'll write:

if (!record.IsActive)
record.Disable();

Not only is it a reminder of what I need to do, it's a possible solution.
"Disable all inactive records"
So is that a double negative or what?

One definition for "Disable inactive records":
Prevent all records that have not been accessed recently from ever being modified.
Now quit it.

As for the OP, the only thing I've really done is say "lol" instead of laughing.
I realized the moment I fell into the fissure that the book would not be destroyed as I had planned.

Thank you. My example relates to something I actually had to do at work, but I dumbed it down for the sake of simplicity. Basically if the record has no recent activity, turn it off. Anyhoo...

I started using much more defined expressions when I talk, to say no less and no more than what I want to say. (Especially in formal speech - college forums..)

*About a month ago I was staying with parents*
Mom: "Wash the dishes please, I'm tired.."
Me: "Okay"
*later*
Mom: "What's this.?! Why are the dishes still in the washing machine? You were supposed to put them into the cabinets.."
Me: "Did you say 'wash the dishes' or 'wash the dishes and put them into the cabinets'?
*Mom looks at me sharply*
Me: "And if you decide to say it like that next time, god help you, don't forget to replace the 'put' word with 'sort' word, or you're gonna be REAL mad when you open the cabinets"

true story.. I still remember that one.

i byte bits and eat em, and poop nibbles, and take notes in binary.

actually i think this is retarded. most of these behaviors are not nerdy, just annoying.
Some person, "I have a black belt in karate"
Dad, "Yea well I have a fan belt in street fighting"
