Re: Any Weight Lifters?
I certainly don't go out of my way to lift weights or exercize intentionally. But I absolutely LOVE to swim and run. Both together have caused my arms (swimming) and legs (running) to get stronger. Running gives me the pleasure of having an orgasm.
When I do lift weights, during school mostly. I can do pretty well.
I just barely turned 14 a week ago.
My Lifts:
Curls: 40 lbs 10 times (either arm)
Bench: 170 lbs 15 times
Deadlift: 240 lbs 3 times
Power Clean: Haven't ever tried I don't think at least...
This is all assuming you mean maxed out weight.
I am 6' 1" and 170 lbs.

Height: 5'10"
Weight: 190lbs
Bench Press: 250x4
Curls: 55x10
I don't really know the rest off the top of my head.
I've been lifting weights ever since I started at the university.

Re: Any Weight Lifters?
maxing out is such a bad idea.i dont think you should ever exceed 90% of your max.
and weight lifting is so one dimensional. dont fool yourself by thinking you are strong because you
can lift a lot. its certainly one part of the equation, but not the whole thing.
i havent done any weights in a long time, id be surprised if i could bench 175 right now.

My height: 5' 6"
my weight: 115lbs
[Lasted Recorded Limits (probably significantly dropped)]
Parallel Squats: 205x1
Box Squats(medium setting): 315x1
Bench: 115x6 <-- never got a max rating for that, hate it too much
Deadlift: 325x1 <-- almost pulled my arms out of socket
Curls: 35x5 <-- its all I have at home...

I highly agree with you avansc, especially after that deadlift maxout I had to do during my weight lifting class in high school.avansc wrote:i dont think you should ever exceed 90% of your max.

Re: Any Weight Lifters?
I broke the record in the weight class for that semester, bluesoul120 on IRC or forums can vouche(sp) for me, since he knows me in RL.
Lifted it with the hex bar, and I was actually going to try for 345 about a week later. Although, I didn't have the time due to the class ending, and we didn't get to hit the weight room again.

Not at all, also...video says some number less than 325. So technically, it's not better.
Good for her, guarantee you she weights more than me. Pretty obvious she does just by looking at her body (no I am not saying she is fat). xD
Being only 115 lbs, lifting anything, anyway...thats nearly 3 times your weight, is good in my eyes. :p
That, and if I were to do a straight leg deadlift, I could probably do at least 230lbs, which is still pretty good regarding my size. So don't be so quick to bash at me just because of my choice of bar.

Re: Any Weight Lifters?
what ever, I probably can do 400+ lb with hex bar, makes it that much easierclsDevAaron wrote:Not at all, also...video says some number less than 325. So technically, it's not better.

Re: Any Weight Lifters?
yeah, but your almost 200lbs.
It would be pretty sad if you couldn't lift that much.
put it in ratio format for lifted weight divided by weight:
240 / 115 = 2.089
315 / 190 = 1.657
now because of the fact that we have to raise your ratio a bit because of the significant weight different between us...that would make it so that if you were my size, you would basically be just as strong as I...and vice versa.

first of all its not a linear scale. there are many factors that have to be taken into account...clsDevAaron wrote: yeah, but your almost 200lbs.

Re: Any Weight Lifters?
Well of course, I am aware of that fact...but for sake of better knowledge in regards to all of the factors that "should" be taken into account for that equation. I went ahead and posted a simple one to estimate. I'm quite aware its a crude formula for going about it. Although, I think the view still stands.avansc wrote:first of all its not a linear scale. there are many factors that have to be taken into account...
If he weighs 190, and lifts 315 in that fashion, and I weigh 115 and can lift ~240 in that fashion. I do not feel there is any reason for him to talk the way he is.
Also, I am not trying to boast my personal internet ego due to what I can lift, I am simply stating it, and combating davidthefat's bash attempts (if that's what you wish to call them).avansc wrote:and i sense a little napoleon syndrome here..

okay, lets use your formula.. an ants ratio would be 50.0 + does that make him stronger? the whole weight/ownweight has some points to it, but in most cases is used by smaller people to justify something.. usually about self image..
and its also treated as a one way street.
you can probably do more pull ups than me. but im also pulling 100 more pounds. but that does not get factored into the equation....
