I am in the market for a new MP3 player and I am trying to keep it under $100, give or take, and I could use some help.
I personally would like to avoid iPods and Zunes, I am not knocking them, but I believe that you are paying more for said brand name then most others for possibly the same quality if not better in others.
What I am looking for is something with the best sound quality,I love bass, I love clarity... I know most of the is dependent on what headphones/speakers you may be doing, but still there may be something that helps with this... I am not sure.
Also, this is not a big one, but would be nice... if it plays .flac files, that would be useful, but I do not think there is one that can do so, but by all means prove me wrong.
So any suggestions, I would appreciate it... any web sites or stores that you can recommend along the way I would also appreciate.
I could care less about video, apps, those are all nice, but not the most important. Oh and I would want the MP3 to have a lithium battery, no AAs and such.

I like mine. It's an "RCA Opal." Takes some time to get used to but it's got good quality and a lithium battery that recharges while plugged into the computer.Trask wrote:I am in the market for a new MP3 player and I am trying to keep it under $100, give or take, and I could use some help.

Can hold: MP3s/WAVs, SMV videos(comes with a converter), all pictures, you can record your voice and listen to FM/AM radio with it too.
You can change the equalizer to have more bass.
The only song that came out a little staticy was When the Lights Are Down, but that comes out staticy on most things.
The only problems I have with it are that half the sound comes out 1 headphone, and half comes out the other (which is true for most MP3 players). Shouldn't really be a problem if you aren't deaf in one ear like me. Also there's no list of songs, only a list of CDs and artists, so if you want a specific song you have to flip through all of them.
I don't know the cost but

Re: MP3 Players
Davidthefat, that is not a bad idea. I actually have a PSP and the sound is great which led me to believe the reviews that I read on Amazon for a Sony Walkman. I cannot provide a link as the proxy I am using goes ape shit with those types of things. If you type in Sony Walkman 8gb, you should be able to see what I am talking about. I am leaning on that... anyone have an experience with those?

... I have experience with Sony Walkman Cassette ... ;)
I realized the moment I fell into the fissure that the book would not be destroyed as I had planned.

Re: MP3 Players
This is the one I will be getting soon. The specs are pretty good and it's only $100. Btw I think that picture is actual size, or close to it.

Re: MP3 Players
yes the irivers are nice, there's another one like it that I can't think of the name of. But ipods are not just the brand name, they're idiot proof, and extremely powerful plus they have such a wide user base you can find an answer to any problem.... but yeah...
