Sound Problem

My sound has been VERY crackly lately. It seems that it's the bass that makes it crackle, although I'm not 100% on this. Before it was a nuisance, now it's downright annoying. I did a wubi of ubuntu to see if maybe it was windows, the sound in Ubuntu was fine. By then I thought "Oh, It's just windows. I'll reformat my windows" That didn't help. So now not only do I have horrible sound, but I lost all my apps(Although I did back up all important docs and code).

Does anyone know of a way that might help? I'm not sure what Ubuntu audio does differently than windows.

Are you overpowering the bass load the speakers can take?

Did you get the same bass out of ubuntu as you did windows?

If its more then a 2.1, are the speakers wired up properly IE. your not sending the sub through a rear channel?

Is the sub/centre channel switched around.

Have you tried the speakers on another computer?

Have they been in a 4000 kelvin fire and the speakers are NOT made from Aperture Science device? (kidding)

I've never used Linux OS but I had the same issue in FL. It's due to CPU overload and can be fixed by updating the sound drivers or, in FL's case, increase the buffer size. How does your CPU look?

My CPU never goes above 90%. Its not my speakers, I have the same problem on my headset. And they both work fine on my laptop. I'm not sure how to tell if I'm overloading the bass. I watched ESRev2 and it was VERY crackly. On linux it sounds fine.
