I've come to the conclusion that, in general, Mac users are either very smart or, in this case, very stupid.

i dont know if thats representative of any mac user, or computer user for that matter, if he cant code something in xcode, he wont be able to in codeblocks, monodev, visual studio, netbeans, eclipse or any other IDE.

Also, id say very few mac users, and windows users for that matter, are programmers.

I dont know what that tool wanted to do, but lines like, "'Ive been trying all day to get XCode to run my code, and nothing is working" just makes me *facepalm*
i mean for all we know is he just has syntax errors, and now blames it on his IDE.

Exactly.

Don't generalize any OS users just because of one statement made because I've seen people who are on Windows and make the same stupid posts as that.

I'm not quite sure about not having a lot of programmers on the Mac and Windows platforms. While Linux is great for programmers and makes the experienced better for the power user, take into consideration the things that cannot be done on Linux and can only be done on a certain platform.

Obviously games using DirectX which is pretty much the entire market of games out there is programmed on a Windows computer.
Development for the iPhone, iPod touch and now iPad are only on the Mac platform with Xcode.
Then obviously each OS has it's own platform specific programs that the other OS do not have.

So really, it depends on where you're looking, however, I think it's safe to assume that a large majority of general programmers may be found working on a Linux OS.

I'm a Mac user myself, and I find it very tiresome hearing from people that people who use Mac are "hipsters" and that Mac users are stupid and the OS is all dumbed down. I don't see one thing about the actual OS that there is to complain about, yet I have a lot to say about Windows and I actually feel the opposite about most Windows users being the stupid ones, but I wont go that far into generalizing because I know it's not true

Anyways, that person was fucking retarded for saying that C++ was a bad language, like what the fuck?
I would rage at them, but that is a very old post ;)

And the original poster obviously knows nothing about programming if they blame their IDE for it's compile errors.

In my experience, all the people I've known who own macs are either very smart or stupid, not sayin its true for ALL users.

At first, they guy was having problems because he couldn't figure out how to compile his code.
I think it's pretty sad the guy can't find the build, compile or run button on his IDE.

Hopefully, this isn't going to turn into an OS war

I just wish some people would consult the magic of Google before saying something like "C++ sucks badly as a programming language". Yeah, it's industry standard because it's a "bad programming language".

I agree that the original poster should have looked at a C++ book or antiRTFM's tutorials before posting about their errors. That's what I do before posting on forums lol

Just my two cents,
