Nintendo's next gen. handheld threatoning the tv industry?

Post by Marx Chaotix »

As I've posted in the, "General Gaming" topic; Nintendo's 3DS is currently in the works and with a new "3D'ish" approach. While I was browsing the webs about this new handheld I stumbled upon and article I found astonishing, yet humorous.

http://news.cnet.com/8301-31021_3-20001013-260.html

The mere fact that a little handheld console could jeopardize an entire industry of television makers just makes me lolz.

Thoughts, questions, ideas?

After hearing so much gossip about this I just cannot help but remain completely skeptical about this. I really am curious as to just exactly how Nintendo's next gen. handheld will be.

Call me old fashioned but i like my games to stay on the screen. I'm not sure that this will be a serious handheld at all, i can see alot of ppl buying it because it sounds cool and then never using it. Don't get me wrong I'm interested in it, i'm just skeptical.

Where did you get that idea from?

In many ways, 3D just makes me think that the industry is trying to get us to buy the next 'upgrade' so all we're really doing is just upgrading our flat panels to these auto-stereoscopic displays. Then again, I don't really care for 3D and I never have. The glasses approach never really did much for me.

I think it's good that Nintendo's new handheld is potentially giving the industry a shove to step up. Consumers don't want to use goddamn 3D glasses, and Nintendo will hopefully prove that consumers shouldn't have to.

Umm... did you even read the article? I was just musing about what the writers put in the article (I personally don't think this will be the case & that everyone is simply overexagerating over-exaggerating)

Of course I did. I didn't find anywhere where they say that though. Quote the section if you wish.

I think he was talking about the extra pressure they said was going to be on sony, samsung, etc. to produce large 3d tv's without the need for glasses.
