I almost put FF 12, but I didn't get to finish it as my ps2 broke before I could finish it.
Re: Top Ten RPGS
Anyone see there is a phantasy star for PSP? I saw it on the PS store

I sure would. I would consider it 'Adventure RPG' lolArce wrote:Would you guys really consider Zelda an RPG? Wouldn't that be more "adventure" or something...?

RPG is such a broad category though. Don't you play the role of a character in pretty much EVERY game? I have always referred to zelda as an Adventure or Action-Adventure game and I'm sticking to it.

Re: Top Ten RPGS
Ooogh... Haven't visited the forums in a REAAALLLLY long time (have been finishing 1st draft work on my embedded programming book), but the new video release got me back in here. (Thanks to all the Elysian Shadows & Dual Threat folks for that... good stuff!)
Sooo, my top 10 RPG's? (Ye Gods but some of this is gonna make me look old...but I do have more than a few wee bits of grey peppering my beard now.)
1. The Bard's Tale. The original, on my long-missed Amiga 1000.
2. Ultima II, III, IV, V (never finished this one...)
3. Wizardry III (couldn't stand 1 or 2 or 4 for some reason)
4. D&D - Pool of Radiance
5. Rogue (played on UNIX workstations in the mid-late 1980's at college) Yes, the ASCII version.
6. Quest. (This was a Rogue-ish overhead view, ASCII-char based game. I was _SEVERELY_ addicted to this on the Apple ][e machines back in high-school. 1983?)
7. Diablo (Mostly a mouse-destroying click-fest, but I enjoyed it. The formula got a little old with D2. May try D3, dunno yet.)
8. Gothic 3. (First person hack-N-slash. Tried Gothic 2, but never finished it.)
9. Zelda 2
10. The Immortal. (Amiga game. First isometric perspective one that I got hopelessly addicted to. What was most memorable about this game for me was that the Amiga had RCA outputs for NTSC video. So I actually made a 45-minute playthrough video tape of this, with dramatic pauses to allow reading of the dialog balloons, and chose items slowly to show inventory, etc. It came out well, like a mini-movie. A pothead roommate I had at the time actually LOVED watching this tape while he was baked--claimed it had all kinds of "insights" and whatnot. He ended up absconding with the tape when we moved house.)
Anyway, there you have it. You can play most of these on emulators now, if you'd care to see what old-farts remember as "The Good Ole Days of Yore". (Except for Quest. I've gone looking for it multiple times, and haven't found a good .DSK image to run on the Apple][ emulators. Anyone find that one, and I'd appreciate a PM through this board.)
Enjoy.
