What specifically? Are we just talking processors here?WSPSNIPER wrote:ok im looking to build a new computer and i know its probably just a brand name but i would like to know your guys thoughts on Intel vs AMD. Thanks

Look up performance tests, particularly in the areas that you might push your computer on. I think Tom's Hardware has some good ones.WSPSNIPER wrote:ok im looking to build a new computer and i know its probably just a brand name but i would like to know your guys thoughts on Intel vs AMD. Thanks
If you're looking strictly for clockspeed versus price then you're looking at AMD, but that doesn't translate that well into real world performance. From what I last saw, the two were about neck in neck with Intel being better at certain tasks (per dollar amount of their hardware, keeping in mind there's also variation based upon whether you're going for mid-range or top-end stuff).
Here's a good up-to-date one:

Re: Intel or AMD
Seems like AMD processors are more popular to gamers so I'd say get one of them

Re: Intel or AMD
Depends on your price range, if you want just raw power but aren't going to do any crazy sick high quality 3D rendering and aren't running a server off of it AMD. AMD is very good and great for general purpose but if you're going to do anything like server then you need an Intel quad. Honestly, I use Intel for everything I have this computer I'm on with an Intel Duo and my brothers which I play any hardcore games on is Intel quad with an Nvidia 9800gt graphics card.
EDIT: and honestly you can do those things on an AMD I just personally prefer Intel especially since they're the best server computers.
