med student discovers integration

Post by short »

I thought this was hilarious, not to belittle the med student (seriously though, lol) but the fact that 75 papers cited the article .... it just goes to show you how uninformed about math most people are. Perhaps as a cs/math dual major I have a bias

http://fliptomato.wordpress.com/2007/03 ... citations/

I know its from 2007 but I didn't see anything previously linking the article on the forums, and, I just found it :)

Personally I think it is pretty baller that someone was able to come up with the basic idea of integration on their own (if they truly did).

A mathematical model for the determination of total area under glucose tolerance and other metabolic curves. M.M. Tai. Diabetes Care, Vol 17, Issue 2 152-154

The grandiose manner that he presents his "monumental" findings in is absolutely fucking hilarious.

to top it all off, Dr. Tai decided to name this “Tai’s Model”

could you imagine calling integration something like "and now we take the Tai of the curve ..."
