Uh oh, what happened to the start up company you and Marcel were working at?

Dear god, they actually ported ES to a piece of celery!

Digital Radiance... that's my first listing.

edit: Oh. They don't really have full-time engineering positions available. It's an awesome company, but the only full time guys are President/CEO and Vice President while the bulk of the employees are computer science interns and coops. I'm going to be graduating in a few months... time to make real money...

Oh, I thought you were considered full time. I hear ya... I'm sure you won't have any issues getting into, well wherever. Good luck on the hunt though. Be sure to update us when you find something.

(1) Reduce your resume to one page if you plan on submitting it places.

(2) Convert it to PDF. It's the one format you can depend on presenting everything correctly (except when you use ridiculous fonts.)

(3) ???

(4) Profit!

Yes to the PDF format. I'm sure the formatting looks fucked, since I went from Word to the text editor in my Macbook before uploading it. The original copy wasn't tainted by OpenOffice.

Trust me. Your resume is not supposed to be a thorough autobiography; it needs to be a brief overview for hiring screeners. At most, it should bleed only a little onto the second page. (My CS advisor suggested one page for every 10 years of genuine experience. I don't know what other experts say, but it sounds like a good guideline.) Granted, it's less of an issue for engineers because you're not fighting 100 locals for a cashier position at Walmart, but you really do need to reduce the excess.

The company I work for employs 14,000 people and their HR department couldn't care less about one page resumes. There may be some places that do, but for the most part it doesn't actually matter as long as the resume is full of relevant up to date information.

Do you have a portfolio setup, Falco? If not, make sure you have that.

Does that mean you have to hand back all the Apple gear? - pretty sucky if that's the case!, I'm hoping for an iOS version of ES.

Nah. That's mine to keep.

And I'm still on really good terms with that company. They're my friends, and I would always be willing to drop everything and go help them with some coding task (without pay) if I got a phonecall at 4AM. We don't really have a boss/employee relationship there. I just see them as guys who are fighting to live the dream.

You only ever have to keep a resume to one page you go to something liek a career fair, and some places if you hand them a hard copy prefer one only one page. electronically, 2 pages is fine, just make sure you done use one and a half, use all of the 2, even if you have to nigger rig the font size.

You might want to look at latex for making your resume, they are purdy and easy to use/update. Good luck on the job search.

Ironically, I was unable to submit my "good resume" to most places I applied anyway. Almost every big place has some file uploader and auto-parser. From there, you have to fill out 8 e-pages of extra nonsense. :(
