What does that have to do with this other than the fact that you need internet connection to do this.dandymcgee wrote:Did you try plugging in the ethernet cable?

I hate to be the one to tell you this (don't shoot the messenger!) but, Game Maker is kind of, looked down upon here.

Re: Game Maker Multiplayer
Game Maker itself isn't looked down upon. The people who use Game Maker and then go on to think that they are better and know about making games than those who use programming. Although this is a majority of Game Maker users, I don't believe that THe Floating Brain is one of them and using Game Maker for side projects is perfectly acceptable.epicasian wrote:I hate to be the one to tell you this (don't shoot the messenger!) but, Game Maker is kind of, looked down upon here.
I'll make your software hardware.

Re: Game Maker Multiplayer
I completely agree; But not many people on this forum use Game Maker (as far as I know) so he's not going to find much help.thejahooli wrote:Game Maker itself isn't looked down upon. Re: Game Maker Multiplayer
It has got nothing to do with Game Maker being looked down upon, just laziness and the lack of research abilities. Seriously, there has to be a a wealth of info out there regarding just about anything Game Maker related, I can't imagine you put much time into looking for it with the breadth of your question.
You DO realize google results are shown to you in pages, right? Just click the number 2 at the bottom and check the second page, sometimes you'll be quite surprised what you find hiding there and beyond. There's no lack of results, chances are if you click enough links (with a halfway decent query to start with) you'll find exactly what you are looking for.

Does Game Maker 8 have natively supported networking capabilities, or have various people just hacked systems together themselves?THe Floating Brain wrote:Its not a lack of results it is content of those results it is either A). For the love, save yourself the trouble. Learn XNA, SDL, or something!

Re: Game Maker Multiplayer
Not much to do with a tutorial but....
I've noticed with all people who use game maker. They don't pick up programming for a LOOOOONG time because they've already been exposed to game maker and it's simplicity draws them back whenever a issue arises.
So be careful eh? Too many side projects can be bad
