In one set of experiments, they were able to recover intelligible speech from the vibrations of a potato-chip bag photographed from 15 feet away through soundproof glass.

This is so awesome. The fact that somebody thought this would be fun to try..

That's brilliantly innovative! I can't imagine the amount of maths involved to model something like this, not to mention the price of sensors they used. The government will be having a field day with this if cameras ever get good and cheap enough. CCTV on steroids.

I wonder if this will ever be used legitimately as evidence in a court case.

I'm sure you'll see it on the next episode of CSI: Miami, but they'll be a mile away and looking at irregularities in the vibrations of a hummingbird's wings.
