Well it would work in practice but it's impossible to put that into practice.

I wonder if somthing like Blue Gene/L would be fast enough to put this into practice though? (at a lower res though)
Imagine if you found an image of yourself, that would be scary haha.

I was actually considering trying this.. But if you think about it it's nearly impossible no matter how low you go. 6 colors at 6x6 resolution = 10,314,424,798,490,535,546,171,949,056 (10.3 octillion) which when saved as a 16-color bmp file takes up exactly 4KB of space. That would take up 38,424,226,636,031,774,976 (38.4 quintillion) TB of hard drive space. Which is slightly more than I have available.

You would probably have to create a new file format that only uses the 6 colours to cut down the size.

It's not the file size though, it's the size on disk. You would have to use smaller sectors on your hard drive.

Well there's no point in creating it if you have no hardware on which to store it. Especially someone like Jools who is mass producing insanely awesome artwork.

Haha, thanks. I'm working at the moment actually and if I'm ill tomorow (quite likely) most of tomorow.
Back on topic, I'm going to conclude this is impossible with current technological limits. (God damn, for a minute there I thought I'd never have to work again.) ;)
