actually, there is much debate whether exercise triggers the release of endorphin, endorphin is a natural pain reliever, and only gets released when damage is being done.
you can do damage when exercising.. after all thats how one builds muscle, (small minute tears in the muscle, then the protiens and what not get turned into new muscle)

anyways, just the point is that if you wanna feel good after exercising you need to do it very hard. a simple 1-3 mile run for a semi fit person would not do it.
strenuous prolonged exercise is the key.. which kinda makes me think... endorphin also gets released(in a much greater quantity) when you have an orgasm...

so for the ultimate... just have rough sex for at least an hour and you should feel pretty fucking good.

alternatively you can just use any opioid since thats all that endorphin is..

Hehehe... I'm 14.
I'll just go with exercise... It's less messy.

This thread inspired me to go for a run for the first time in about 3 years. Holy damn I am out of shape. I only made it like 1.5 miles before practically dying. But I felt great after I caught my wind back!

Do a quick half or full mile jog every time you get stuck on programming or homework. You'll feel amazing in less than a month. Though I'm not too fond of running in winter.

Strenuous weight lifting offers just as much endorphin (of not more) release than a good run--and it makes the ladies want you more.

And just in case you completely look like shit, cut your wrists? ;)

Great idea! :)
In fact, cut the fat off your wrists then you will feel better and lose weight. Hooray!

Not a very nice joke considering a lot of depressed people actually do that. :nono:

I reserve the right to make fun of people for slitting their wrists. Depression is one thing, but that form of self destruction has crossed the border of pathetic. If they don't care about themselves, why should we?

thats actually funny, since cutting your self releases enormous amounts of endorphin. not that you should get it that way. but its one of the reasons people get hooked to it.

I know it is pathetic to inflict self harm. I'm just saying that there is no need to make jokes about it because it can be pretty serious.

I'm not quite sure I follow the logic there; many things that are serious are still (and should be) made fun of, and I see no reason for an exception in this case. Not to mention, joke about anything, and it's bound to be a serious issue for someone. Fuuuuuurthermore, when it comes to negative behaviour that we don't want people engaging in, what better way to stop someone intellectually devoid enough to do this from actually doing it than to convince them it's stupid enough to make fun of?

I mean, when you're saying something shouldn't be joked about, you're basically saying that it should be treated with more respect than most things. This is not discouraging this type of behaviour - if anything, it's encouraging, it will probably make these people feel immune to being made fun of. Which I'm sure is dominantly the reason that drives people to it in the first place. I don't want to get on another rant, all I'm saying is that stupid things should be treated accordingly, not shown undue respect. And it should be as open to criticism as anything else, humorous or otherwise.

Cutting wrists can be an attempt at suicide and in my opinion suicide isn't something to laugh about, AT ALL. Too many good people have been lost in suicide and it's really sad.

mhmmm, i dont think anyone would say that someone committing suicide is funny, but that does not mean you cant joke about suicide in general.

oh, and aamesxdavid, i dated a ex-cutter. she is probably one of the smartest people i have ever met (iq of 140+), has nothing to do with intellect. altho im sure that there are some, self mutilation has nothing to do with seeking attention.

While I'm sure there's some overlap there, cutting and suicide attempts are generally very different, in both motivation and action. I've tried to think of a way to directly respond to the second part without sounding like a completely heartless dick, but I just can't do it - the point is, though, that it's important to keep a sense of humor about everything.

I'm sure it wasn't the best way to phrase it, though rational cognition is part of intellect. Even if for the most part you have that, but you're still cutting, something is interfering with it. In any case, it was really for lack of a better term, as I was just about to leave work but I wanted to toss the thought out there. I'm not sure if that last part was in response to my comment, but if it was, I wasn't talking about attention. I was just talking about the popular perception of an act having an impact on someone deciding to do it or not. Not to mention treating the act as almost sacred in its immunity to being joked about.

hehe, its kinda like that story where the guy gets a flat tire next to the insane asylum, and he is changing the wheel and notices one of the wackadoos sitting watching him. as he gets the wheel off all the wheel nuts fall into a drain. the guy is like fuck what now. and the wackadoo says, why dony you take one nut from each of the other wheels and use it on that one. the man is surprised and says thats brilliant, why are you in here man. the wackadoo replies. because im crazy, not stupid.
