I have a solution that has no upper bound on result length, user input must be < max unsigned long long.
Although technically the bottleneck is result; a single digit number times the current iteration up to unsigned long long must be < max unsigned long long; so really user input bound is probably (max_unsigned_long_long / 9 + 9). I've thought of a way to get around this upper bound, though, just too lazy atm.

Used iterative method for 1) speed and 2) less function overhead

EDIT2: Also, this does exact precision. Scientific notation would be easier

Memory allocation makes it slower, of course. That and if your processor is better than a centrino (laptop) 1.75 ghz :)
What's the upper bound on your result? If you have an infinite result and infinite input, recursion will hit you with a stack overflow.

I made a solution for infinite large input and output a while ago in Java, but that was using the BigInteger class, so that's kindof cheating in this thread. Not to mention, it gets kinda slow for large numbers :D

you quest is to write a program that will calculate factorial(n) so factorial(6) = 720.

you may use any language you want, as long as it is 32bit.(because im sure most only have 32 bit cpu's and os')

I actually tried this challenge, I only tried it the recursive way(which is likely to create a stack overflow with higher numbers, but I didn't go all that high with it)
