Check out this convo I had with some kid, He's going to try to get me banned on TIG!
This is why I hate AIM sometimes...
Him: hi!
Me: hey, who is this?
Him: i am from the tigsource forums i just lurk the most
Me: Oh hey, Tigro! What's your username?
Him: tigro?
Me: That's what I call people from TIG =P
Him: oh
Me: uhh so what's up?
Him: i saw u were mkaing a little dracula game and saw that u can make games.
Me: I actually scrapped that project
Me: There was already a cartoon called Little Dracula, and then Lightmare came out
Me: and it was basically the same thing, so I just said forget it.
Him: oh
Me: Do you make games, or just a fan of indie games.
Him: i have not made one, but i am making one wit some friends from scchool
Me: Cool, what's it about?
Him: its liek L4D. its going to be aweosme
Him: do u want to help us?
Me: uhh? Like L4D? Is it 3D
Him: yes, we are making it 3D
Him: 2D games are not as good
Me: Wait, how old are you?
Him: 11
Me: Oh.
Me: Do you even know how to code? C++? Anything?
Him: i wrote the story and do drawings for the game
Me: Do your friends know how?
Him: no we are looking up tuttoreals and will get a programmer to help us
Me: ugh, So you are going to get a programmer to do all the work
Me: and then slap your name on it?
Him: no i wrote the script and do the drawings
Me: Do you know how to make 3D models?
Him: no, i will just read the tuttoreals
Me: *tutorials
Him: why won't you help us?
Me: First of all, I'm not doing all the work.
Me: Second, I have only have a general idea of how coding for 3D games works, but I have never done it
Me: Good luck trying to find a programmer that will help you... You should probably learn how to do it with your friends
Me: Check out a book from the library, like Sam's teach yourself C++ in 21 days, or read TUTORIALS and make pong or something. You have to work your way up to doing something like L4D.
Me: The first thing I ever done was a one level Megaman clone. And I learned all about collisions and drawing sprites into the program, etc.
Him: thats stupid
Him: we can make this game we got alot of art and stuff
Me: Dude, I'm just trying to help you. You should do something like use GameMaker it uses scripts so you can get familiar with how languages work and stuff.
Me: That way you can learn. Do you think the people at Valve started with L4D? No. They started with really simple stuff and went to college and made simple stuff and then built it up until they had an understanding on how to do that sort of thing. Even a current project I'm working on right now is basically a Pac-man clone.
Him: no that takes too long. we can just read totoreals. you don't know anything you can't even program 3D stuff
Me: Kid, you're raging me to my full extent, Just take my advice. Or go ask somebody else for advice. Everyone will say the same thing to you.
Him: your stupid i just googled a lot of stuff on how to do it lol cant you do this
Me: Listen you christpunching cuntlipped fag. I was just giving you advice... wait, why am I arguing with a kid? Take your shitty logic and go program your shit game, and good luck. And good luck finding a programmer to help you.
Him: u r mean. i am going to tell the mods to BAN you
Me: Eat shit and die you fuck, have them ban me.
I posted this to the TIG forums too, I wonder if I'll really get banned? XD
That is ridiculous... wait a second? you said he was 11?, I thought you usually had to be at least 13 to register for most forums?, maybe a ban may be just what THEY need
The sad thing about that story is that I don't think he was even arrogant, he was just oblivious to the amount of work it actually takes to learn to program, and make something of any merit...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think I can program pretty well, it's my compiler that needs convincing!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And now a joke to lighten to mood :D
I wander what programming language anakin skywalker used to program C3-PO's AI back on tatooine? my guess is Jawa :P

Who knows, I should have asked for his username on TIG before I blocked him. His AIM ign was something weeaboo.

I know! I mean when I was 11, I had Klik & Play That's how I started, and even then I was like I'M GOING TO MAKE THE MOST EPIC GAME EVER, and bit off more than I could chew. But even then I had a realization of how much work it was. I think everyone that age does that at least once... That kid is just a dick. XD
You wouldn't ban me, would you, Falco? *bats eyelashes*

Holy crap, I remember Furcadia. I played it with no regard or understanding of what Furry really was... I thought I was a stud, too... I remember thinking, "Man if I can get girls this easy online then I should be able to in real life!"
I think I was playing Age of Empires 2 when I was 11, I was so shielded from the whole internet revolution as I had the 'kid-safe' version of AOL, all you could do really was find out about nickelodeon shows...I swear they owned AOL or something!
I think a few hours online does wanders for your ego when you first start out, I think since these 11 year olds don't really know of a world without the internet, they don't really know how easy it actually is for them...
@the other posters: what is this furcadia you speak of? i've never heard of it.

well when you think about it, he's 11, meaning he was born in 1997, I believe that the playstation and N64 were already out then, and I doubt he was playing games until the next generation of consoles (i.e. GC, PS2, XBOX) so when you think about it, he doesn't really know any better, damn kids

This is probably the most true to me.... so when kids these days go "2D GAMES SUCK" I get aggressive...
I am 23, but I have a bro and sis who are 9 and 5, and they can't even PLAY 2D games. I tried to teach them about how good old games are, but they just went to go play Xbox and Wii... I weep to myself silently at night...
