A possible glimpse into the future
This is pretty damn cool.
The crazy thing is...we're not *that* far away from this today. Do you guys think we'll reach this level in our lifetime?

Re: A possible glimpse into the future
Wow, I was wanting to find a preview of this concept! In my opinion this is freaking awesome, very interesting...
One of my IT teachers was explaining these concepts to us (which he heard about from a branch of Hewlett Packard company), and that they pay guys alot of money to think up these ideas and solve issues of how current technology can evolve into them.

Re: A possible glimpse into the future
A world made of glass. Brilliant concept, but what happens when a couple of pranksters pull out a pellet gun and destroy $15 Billion worth of glass in 30 seconds?
Needs more color, I don't want the whole world looking like a big ass MacBook Pro.

well it says all the "architectural" types of glass are "damage resistant" and "durable". How they'll make it so, I'm not suredandymcgee wrote:A world made of glass. Either way, awesome concept!

I saw that, but did you see how carefully the guy was holding the small phone-like device? I know it was conceptual, but even conceptually he was handling the glass gently, lol.Ginto8 wrote: well it says all the "architectural" types of glass are "damage resistant" and "durable". I think that was to maximize the area that they can edit later on. If he was to grip it like most people do, it would seem harder to put the simulated videos on theredandymcgee wrote:I saw that, but did you see how carefully the guy was holding the small phone-like device? Haha! I definately agree!I don't want the whole world looking like a big ass MacBook Pro.
Also, I don't like the idea of EVERYTHING being smooth and shiny. Plus, I'd kinda feel like my privacy could be more easily invaded with everything being transparent.... I dunno but a glass house? *shudders* Don't want my neighbors seeing through my house.

What happens when you lose power? Fuck, my bathroom mirror is stuck on a freeze frame of the weather and I can't open the damn fridge.

Re: A possible glimpse into the future
I'm not sure I like that idea. Yes it would be cool and everything, but think of the electricity bill for a house like that and also, if your house becomes the equivelent of a giant computer, just think of all the radiation going around inside it, I'd be scared to go in my house! But, that's looking at it from the wrong perspective I geuss, it would be a cool concept and I'd love to seen it come to life some day, it would be pretty amazing if you ask me.

You're afraid of the amount of radiation that that many electronic components creates? You should be scared to go outside, because I'd bet my life you get more harmful radiation from the sun than from electronics.BlobOfFailure wrote:I'm not sure I like that idea. Well said Ginto8. It reminds of that myth that used to go around about people getting tumors in their ears from too much cellphone use.Ginto8 wrote: You're afraid of the amount of radiation that that many electronic components creates?
