Google Chrome - Side Tabs
So, the side tabs-feature in Google Chrome has been removed.
They wanted Chrome to be simplistic, and that side tabs was not widely used.
What do you think about this?
I used this feature, and now I really miss it. It's are pain and a mess to browse my tabs horizontally, and maybe I even have to scroll to find the desired content.
I'm using a wide screen monitor, so I have some extra space vertically. Side tabs was filling up that space nicely.

Re: Google Chrome - Side Tabs
Sounds like that was more of a development test. I didn't even know it was possible. Was it ever actually released, or were you using the command like option to enable it? Sounds like a neat idea, but I'd have to try it to see what I really think.

I'm not sure if it was officially announced.dandymcgee wrote:Sounds like that was more of a development test. I didn't even know it was possible. You could type "about:flags" in the url-field, and click "enable side tabs".
For me, it was really useful. I tend to have a lot of tabs open at the same time, so now my eyes have to move a lot more to check what's up there, instead of a simple vertical list.
What's more efficient to read and search trough:
google, facebook, youtube, the chaos rift, github, lazyfoo, gamedev, bbc, explosm, cad, twitter
or
google,
facebook,
youtube,
the chaos rift
github
lazyfoo
gamedev
bbc
explosm
cad

Re: Google Chrome - Side Tabs
Didn't know you could do that in Chrome, but that's the way I have my tabs set up in Visual Studio. I prefer it way better that way, though I feel like I trade the ability to see what all is open with whitespace.

Re: Google Chrome - Side Tabs
That does look like it could be useful when you have many tabs open. Thanks for the about:flags link though, that's pretty cool. I've used about:cache before to rip audio / video from websites, lol.

Re: Google Chrome - Side Tabs
It's easier for me to just read tabs like they already are, plus it looks nicer and saves room. But thanks for the INFORMATION!

Unless you meant the tip about them not being there anymore.. in which case your reply still makes no sense.LeonBlade wrote:You know what I mean...dandymcgee wrote:It wasn't really a tip, lol.LeonBlade wrote:It's easier for me to just read tabs like they already are, plus it looks nicer and saves room.
