Post your screen resolution
It will help me make a decision. Thanks.

Hey thanks. I was contemplating a 2D game (in openGL [which I have yet to learn]) and me and quite a few of my friends have widescreen aspect ratios and I'd like to utilize that real estate. I gotta decide which group of people gets the black bars of wasted space.
Unfortunately I don't have the skillz and knowledge to make the eye-mouse thing yet. Maybe someday.

Wow, kewl, I too am thinking about starting OpenGL soon, though not for wide screen. Perhaps I'll have multi resolution support, but I'm not sure if it's worth that trouble atm...
But anyway, I've got the BEST ebooks for it ever. They're not tutorials--They're actually books ((such as Sam's teach yourself)) on different topics from just 'Game development overview' to 'Game AI' to 'creating an RPG in OpenGL' to 'Learn to structure a game in OpenGl'
So yeah, need some goodz, tell me.

I might have to take you up on that offer some time. But for now I'll read through the freely available online The Red Book.

Both or just normal, I think. It doesn't feel like widescreen has enough market penetration yet to me.
Also using a 2d game is it possible to just draw more on the sides instead of resizing everything?

I realized the moment I fell into the fissure that the book would not be destroyed as I had planned.

It really hasn't anything to do with resolution. More with width and height ratios.Arce wrote:Btw, I don't really understand what your resolution problem is?
And I agree Mar... I reckon I'll go no go on widescreen.
EDIT: oops didn't see that last part of your post. Yeah it's possible... but doing something like that would drive me insane. I like things to behave the same no matter the what it's running on.
