It's from all those double sometimes triple occasionally quadruple posts you do, probably.

this project is quickly comming to a grinding halt. as in exit(ohshit);
see this is why i which i was a badass with photoshop.

i can make the game an everything. but using all the original graphics is going to make it look really shitty.
all the graphics is from a 0 degree angle. it looks like a platformer, not a rpg iso look.
hard to explain but im sure you know what i mean.

it has this perspective
Image

instead of this perspective.
Image

i think what im going to do is make it a platformer.
and use the exact levels.but have it in this form.

Image

an when you come to a intersection/corner. the world/map wraps around you. i dont know if that makes sense. but something like those mario paper games.
but different. i dont know. any opinions?

note: that is not correct scale. the room should be bigger compared to the doom guy.

I was wondering what you were going to do about the view angle.

I dunno man... I still think this is totally possible. All of the Doom sprites were drawn in 8 directions - which is the same amount of directions that isometric games, such as Diablo, use. The only difference is that isometric is drawn about 30 to 45 degrees higher. The perspective is slightly off, but the original Doom graphics offer all of the directional angles you need.

Think about the trees in Mario 64... They were a flat tree drawn from a 0 angle, then slapped onto a rectangle that always faces the camera. The perspective of the tree is actually off MOST of the time - but they got away with it.

I cropped some enemies from Doom and dropped them into that screenshot you posted. Looks good enough to me! ;)

Someone was making a Doom RTS, but they gave up. They used the same graphics from the original game.

well after seeing how it looks in a ISO/pseudo 3D view i have decided to go ahead and make it that way. i'll probably wont make it iso, partly because thats more work, and because i think it will look better the other way. i get on a plane tomorrow for a 20 hour flight, but will still try and work on it during my vacation.... maybe.. ;)

Actually Diablo uses 16 direction sprites (for characters) although I'm pretty sure it's still 8 directions for most smaller monsters.

no laptop on the plane? :)

I'm glad you're still going to give it a go in "3d" avansc, I've seen what you're capable of and I'm sure you'll work something out ;)

Btw, that's sweet music!
