What happened to Marcel? Did he quit?
Yes. We have not made an official announcement, but that, along with quite a bit of other things will be announced sometime this weekend in a new video.

I'd assume the change is for the better for everyone or it wouldn't have come to that. Still, he's a blast to watch on the AIGD vids, and I'll surely miss his presence there :(

He's family, right Gyro?

Why not develop this game for the PSP? The homebrew PSP scene is quite large, much bigger than the Dreamcast's, and the modded PSP is also capable of running unsigned code. On top of that, it can run Lua (with the Lua Player) and C++. And wouldn't it be awesome to see your game running on a handheld?

Dreamcast is just a favorite among the guys, but if you want it to be portable well...http://www.geekologie.com/2008/01/porta ... _wellm.php

Dear god, they actually ported ES to a piece of celery!

The PSP is more powerful in terms of graphics/sound, processing, RAM, and storage capacity. Also, you can test the game on the PSP without burning it to a disk first. And, you can output to a TV with higher resolution than a Dreamcast, I believe.

@Trask: That's awesome! I saw something like that for the PS1 a few years ago in a game magazine.

Wrong. The DC's powerVR can do things that the PSP's GU couldn't dream of. Anti aliasing, bumpmapping, and a few other things to name a few. The Dreamcast also has about twice as much available VRAM as the PSP (which is already not enough for ES).

The PSP and PS2 both have notoriously weak GPU's. The power of the two comes from being able to emulate things in software with the CPUs (which yes, the PSP and PS2 both have substantially more powerful CPUs than Dreamcast).
