Cave Tileset Continued Continued

I've been examining the Final Fantasy VI tilesheet some more, it's far more complex than I thought it would be, it's really a great piece of work, and I'm trying my best to give ES the same greatness. It's bloody brilliant! :)

A short update, I think I'm getting the technique for drawing cave walls down, now if only I can get this together as a tilesheet we're all good. :)

Sorry to hear about the loss of video btw. That sucks.

Quick update, currently only two new tiles, but I like them a lot and if I can expand this tilesheet properly we'll have a cave tilesheet needless to say.

Update, there are now 5 different tiles of rock for the tile layer there will be a few more, and next is the tiles that are going to be on the object layer that should render the tiles above the character sprites, like ceiling tiles.

I've decided to step back and chose to go with the dungeoney cave tilesheet, here's a small update, I've added Kendalls skeleton to the sheet as well (it fits perfectly) and I've started to work on water tiles.

Edit: This tilesheet is working out suprisingly well it seems...

Alright, so I'm working on the water for the cave this night. First I tried out the classic approach, like this.

It has the colors I want for it, and I've animated it a bit but didn't get the desired effect I was looking for, hence I started researching Harvest Moon for the Super Nintendo because I remember that water looked particularly nice so I'm gonna give that a shot, also it feels more realistic than the above approach. Here are some screenshots, albeit not animated it's still kinda nice (in game, it is animated though).

The second screenshot is particularly nice because the water is transparent and you can still see the dirt/mud/rock through it, very interesting.

I'm having a bit of beer and wine tonight to sparc the creativity and motivation, I'll post more updates shortly. God I love Harvest Moon. Haha! :)

I think I'm gonna put the cave tilesheet on hold and get started on a village tilesheet instead after I've made some concept art on buildings and stuff. I'm really sick of working on the cave right now and think I could make more progress if I work on something else for a while.

Edit: I've got some really nice ideas for the cave but I'm gonna have to put more thought into how to put it together as a tilesheet.

Edit: I'm leaving it here:
